A random girl from singles ward was getting together a big group of people to go down to Moab to skydive. The minute I heard her talking about it I knew I was going to be able to resist the opportunity...no matter the cost. Probably not a good thing to think, but seriously, I can save my money on a lot of things but when it comes to fun and excitement like that, I can't say no!
In the end only 6 girls where their total. I wasn't suppose to be an all girls trip, but everyone else ditched out. I slept at home while they stayed in a rented condo. It was good to atleast spend a little time at home. I still feels new to me since I barely had anytime there after I got home from my mission. Every chance I have to visit home is a treat.
Saturday morning we went skydiving and it was so epic! Haha Only three out of the 6 of us girls actually skydived. The rest just watched. We were freaked out signing the waiver because it seemed like every paragraph said something to the effect of, "You are about to kill yourself so sign your name here so we don't get blamed." (Insert nervous laugh). For real though, it was terrifying...
Our turn came to get harnessed up. A few instructions were given to us by our skydiving instructor, and then before we knew it we were climbing into the plane. I wanted to send a text or something to my family (y'all) saying that in the event that something does go wrong atleast I was going to die happy, and that I loved you all, but my phone wasn't working but then I thought, "Heck, they won't even know I am missing!" Haha I'm kidding
After what was about maybe atleast a 10 minute plane ride, the door flew open and the wind and noise was so intense 2 1/2 miles above the ground. We positioned ourselves, me barely able to look down, and then bam! Just like that we were free falling through the air. I couldn't scream or make a sound, but the adrenaline was amazing! He even whipped out the GoPro to take selfies! Who knew you could do that falling straight through the air?!
It's funny because I felt more dropping sensations when the parachute was out than when we were free falling. You literally feel like you are flying in the air! And over Canyonlands? It was beautiful! I seriously would do that over and over again! Though probably not on the same day cuz it can really take it out of you. We felt rather exhausted afterwards.
From our skydiving extravanganza we went back to the condo, had lunch and then headed to Arches to hike Delicate Arch. It's been over 2 years since I've been able to do that! All in all this trip was perfect. We tried swimming in Ken's lake that night, but the water was freezing and so was the air. We went to a few gift shops and main, and then went to Moab Diner for take out. It was packed though so we had to wait awhile. In the meantime, me and another girl just sat on the floor waiting for our food like ghetto people. Ha!
Sunday I took Neal with me to 1st ward to hear an old friend give his homecoming talk (which was so fun to meet some old Moab friends) and then drove home with the girls after that. We managed to get pulled over, and the girl driving got her licensed suspended. She was going 20 over, in a car that had no insurance (except really it did it just wasn't in the car so the police man said I could get your car towed right now, but then out of great generosity did not tow our car OR give us a ticket). I was told by the police man that I had to drive the rest of the way home (which I was very happy about because I love driving!).
